The 3dX or Bart’s StarĀ

I have made frames for insect displays since college, and have sold shadow boxes at gift stores. I also became interested in puzzle pieces and discovered how to make one that I have not found a name for or description of, despite searching the internet. It was made on a table rip saw with a single blade setting. Starting with a long 2 by 2 inch piece of wood, I ripped a “V” along its length on all four sides. Then I cut the “X”-shaped board into squares (see below). Then, I then these squares through again to create what appears to me to be a 3d star shaped object or “Bart’s Star.” My wood working friends told be I was crazy to make these due to the possibility of cutting one or more of my guitar-playing fingers, so it is not advised unless caution is taken to make the final cuts safely and/or use larger stock (4 by 4 inches?).
