Stories: By 2016, I was 64 years old and was writing these stories. My family left the Netherlands (Holland) when I was 6 ½ years old. I was ten times as old by then, but those miraculous brain cells were (mostly) still alive and kicking. All through my childhood, I could not spell or write well. I really didn’t start reading much until I was in college. During my career as an entomologist and father of two girls, I had little extra time. Now I’m happily retired. My father, Jan Meijer Drees, was my age when he finally sat down to write his memoirs using an early Radio Shack Tandy desktop personal computer! Now, my time had come. These are my memories, accurate or less than so, and I thank my daughter, Erin Drees-Snyder, for editing my texts:
Bart catching butterflies in the back yard on Stichter Ave. in Dallas Texas (early 1960’s) wearing his Indian scout clothing. Mike Flanery is on the treehouse in the background. Sweet memories!
